Semi Charmed Kind of Life

Time for an update! I know it's been a minute as usual, but while I'm traveling in Texas for a conference I figured I'd take a moment to post.

Last we spoke, things were going great outside of missing all my hair. My results came back as good as can be and we were chugging right along, headed for maintenance.

That's still pretty much where I am. After a change in insurance and dealing with the fun of that changeover (all sarcasm intended) I finally got things squared away this month, started back on Revlimid.

For those that don't know, Revlimid and it's generic name Lenalidomide is a form of soft chemo daily pill that you take in a cycle. 21 days on, 7 days off. Rinse, repeat. This is the medication that I will take indefinitely for the time being.

I was on it while I was in the induction phase (basic treatment), but now I'm on a lower dose. Thankfully the GI issues that I experienced while taking it before haven't reared their head yet and I'm hoping with the lower dosage they don't at all.

While taking it previously I also had a lot of foot cramps that would come out of nowhere and haven't experienced that yet, either. I'm a little over half way into my first cycle with this, so only time will tell.

Luckily I've been back to running a lot more with the help of my son Rory.

he's started showing some interest in running with me and I love it. Him, Ruby (our Australian Shepherd) have been putting in some mileage and I even have hopes I could get another half marathon in before the end of the year if I buckle down.

It's a lot of fun seeing him find some of his athletic passions. He's really big into soccer so the running certainly will help with his cardio.

Grace is still kicking ass at swimming. She gets better each and every meet. I love that both kids have their own thing.

Outside of that, not a whole lot else is going on, except work. We're about to hit a little bit slower time with our sports jobs, but as I mentioned, I'm at the GotPhoto Summer Camp that I go to every year. This year is in Austin, TX so I'll be hitting up some comedy clubs for standup, a passion of my own.

I have to at least mention this awesome tattoo I just got that has a lot of meaning. I had started working very slowly on having some sleeves before I had been diagnosed and haven't added to it since, so it was appropriate that my new one was connected to my Multiple Myeloma.

I had Zack at Raven Tattoo design this Phoenix rising from the ashes with a burgundy MM ribbon with my stem cell birthday in it. I couldn't be happier with it.

Definitely want to give a big shoutout to Stephanie for holding the fort down at home with the kids and prepping everything for our annual fireworks show/party this week. Definitely not the most opportune time to be away right now, but I know she has this.

Thanks as always for all the support and help from everyone. I keep hearing "you look so good" when I see people that I haven't seen in awhile. And I always look good, but I'm happy to hear that people are noticing, finally.
